Patented fast-installation insulated connection braids by nVent ERIFLEX
FLEXBUS is a patented fast-installation insulated connection braid designed for connecting transformers, transformers with electrical cabinets, generators with cabinets, UPS systems with cabinets and similar power connections. It is used as a modern replacement for traditional cables and copper busbars.
The FLEXBUS system consists of an insulated copper-plated aluminum braid, supports and connectors.
The insulated copper-plated aluminum braid is made of 90% aluminum and 10% copper, with a strand diameter of 0.2 mm and a current rating from 500 A to 6300 A. A tin-plated copper plate is factory-installed at one end for direct connection to a copper busbar, circuit breaker or transformer terminal, while the other end remains free so the length can be adjusted to the specific connection.
In most cases, one FLEXBUS conductor is used per phase, which enables significantly faster installation: up to 50% faster compared to cables and up to 70% faster compared to a busbar trunking system.
The insulation is resistant to temperatures up to 115 °C, UV-resistant, self-extinguishing, halogen-free and low-smoke. Patented internal ribs reduce surface contact, improve cooling and help reduce heating.
The insulation is Class II, which means it can be in direct contact with metal parts. No special tool is required for bending, which additionally simplifies and speeds up installation.
The FLEXBUS system is suitable for indoor and outdoor installation. It can be installed in pipes, cable ducts, trenches, soil, water and similar environments. If required, it can also be supplied with a coating for protection against rodents and termites.
FLEXBUS conductors are mounted on specially designed supports that can be fixed directly to a wall or ceiling. The supports are temperature-resistant and suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
Connectors are used to connect FLEXBUS conductors to transformer terminals and similar elements of the power system.
